Mission: At Shine Wyoming, we believe that every individual deserves the tools, resources, and support needed to thrive beyond adversity. We empower families across Wyoming through educational advocacy, trauma-informed case management, and self-sufficiency programs—bridging gaps in education, offering hands-on trauma support, and equipping families with the tools needed for long-term stability and independence.
All board members are expected to:
- Support Shine Wyoming’s mission, vision, and values.
- Attend regular board meetings and actively participate in decision-making.
- Serve on at least one committee or special project team.
- Assist with fundraising, networking, and outreach efforts.
- Ensure Shine Wyoming operates ethically and financially responsibly.
- Be informed on relevant policies, community needs, and nonprofit governance.
Board Officer Roles & Responsibilities
1. Board Chair (President)
- Provides overall leadership to the Board and organization.
- Facilitates board meetings and sets the agenda.
- Acts as the main spokesperson for Shine Wyoming.
- Oversees board committees and strategic planning.
- Works closely with the Executive Director.
Qualifications: Experience in nonprofit leadership, community advocacy, or education policy.
2. Vice Chair (Vice President)
- Supports the Board Chair and steps in when needed.
- Oversees specific strategic initiatives or committees.
- Assists in governance and compliance matters.
- Helps develop board leadership and succession planning.
Qualifications: Strong leadership experience and familiarity with nonprofit governance.
3. Secretary
- Maintains board meeting minutes and official records.
- Ensures compliance with bylaws and reporting requirements.
- Organizes meeting agendas and sends notifications.
- Safeguards nonprofit documentation and policies.
Qualifications: Detail-oriented with experience in administration, legal, or recordkeeping.
4. Treasurer
- Manages financial records and ensures fiscal accountability.
- Reviews budgets, financial statements, and funding reports.
- Works with accountants, grant funders, and auditors.
- Advises on financial planning and sustainability.
Qualifications: Finance, accounting, or nonprofit financial management experience.
